Diamonds are among nature’s most precious and beautiful creations, and the fascination with them has been around for years. This gemstone which represents love and luxury has been especially fascinating to woman. Almost every girl out there that I know dreams of a perfect diamond ring. Not only is diamond the most sparkling of all gemstones out there but it is one of the most fascinating because of its unique substance.

A diamond is basically carbon, which has been pressurized under extreme heat 100 feet beneath the earth’s surface. Because of the high temperatures and high pressure the carbon atoms bond together and start to grow crystals. Each carbon atom is bonded to four other atoms. This is how they create the strongest type of atom bonding than any other substance. Because of its unique bonding substance, the diamond has some superlative physical qualities. It has the highest hardness and heat conductivity of any bulk material. It will never wear down, get old or erode, which makes it a perfect symbol of love.

Another fascinating thing about diamonds is their age. Diamonds have formed between 1-3 billion years ago under the earth’s surface. Wearing a nature’s creation that is this old, reminds you of their durability and longevity. Hence the famous quote that diamonds are forever. They have been around for billions of years and will continue to be around forever. This is also another reason what makes diamonds the number one gemstone in engagement rings. There is definitely no better gemstone which can symbolize love, than a diamond. It’s forever and everlasting.
