Hello everyone!!!

As we know spring is around the corner, to be exact seven weeks, and the thought that comes to mind is; what is going to be in this Spring? The Spring 2015 is all about the midi skirts; it is out with the short mini skirts and in with the lady like midi skirts. I would have never guessed that these skirts would come back in style, because it just did not seem appropriate for this day and age. These skirts used to be popular in the fifties, and when you look at that time period, it makes sense why they were popular then.

Women who were working manual labor jobs, from the shortages of men being in the war, were finally happy to take the traditional role of a woman, when their men returned home from the war. This was their time to shine and become feminine once again; no more manual labor, and they enjoyed every bit of pampering themselves and looking classy and romantic in these beautiful midi skirts. These types of skirts were perfect for that new leisure lifestyle.

But we are seeing them once again this Spring. The resurgence of midi skirts this spring has also to do with women wanting to be treated as women, but in a different way. This time it is not that women want to be treated as housewives or as traditional women, but they want to be treated as women in a sense of not being objectified. In the recent years with the rise of pop and hip hop culture women have lost their value, with provocative clothing in music videos and insulting song lyrics. Women want to be ladylike and respected and this is what we are seeing being translated in the fashion world this Spring.

Some of you might think, these skirts look great in pictures and on models, but this look might be too dressy for everyday and not comfortable or practical. I was under the same impression, until I wore my first midi skirt last weekend, and I have to confess that I was pleasantly surprised. In reality they are not that much of a hassle at all, and they are really comfortable, especially if paired with a cute pair of ballerina flats. I really felt lady like, classy and romantic at the same time, but also very comfortable.
