Hello fellow readers!!!

Monochromatic outfits have been everywhere lately, thus it made me want to show you in today’s post how wear a monochromatic outfit.  We all know that the queens of monochromatic outfits are Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian. But they usually go for an all white, beige or black outfit, and never for color. I can completely understand, why they would go for a neutral monochrome outfit, and stay away from colorful ones, because being dressed up in green from head to toe or purple, might be a little too much, and could possibly make you look like you are one of the Telletubbies characters lol.

The outfits they wear  in these neutral colors  are easier to style,  I feel that the clothing is a little trendier and are limited to where you could wear them. On the other hand dressing in something similar to what I am wearing today, even though it is colorful is a lot more versatile and it will give you so many more options on where it could be worn to.

Let’s start with the skirt, which I designed a while ago, and styled it in my previous posts here and here. It is an A-line with pleats that hits right below the knees. I remember when I was choosing the fabric for this skirt, it is the color that attracted me to it.  I knew this classic color would be a staple in my wardrobe. So, when I had the idea of creating a monochromatic look, the first thing I went for in my closet was this skirt, once again because of its color.  And I build the whole outfit around this piece. To prevent from looking like a cartoon character in a blue monochromatic outfit, I recommend breaking the color with a print like a striped top. It will make your outfit instantly more chicer and classier.  As for the handbag and shoes I would keep them in either black or white. Please do not go for the same colored accessories as your beautiful colorful monochromatic outfit.

How to style a monochromatic outfit

Tips:

  1. Choose an item and build your outfit around it
  2. Add a striped top in the same color of your pants/skirt
  3. Keep the accessories in either black or white

I hope you find these few tips helpful. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!!!

xo, Emily
